Before and After Light Switch



It's the simple things in life that really count, right?  Remember way back when I said I had a few more "little" projects I wanted to finish up in my son's room, well this is one of those projects.  It seriously only took me about 3 minutes.  See the before - just plain and ordinary, pretty blah.

 

 

 

So I decided to change it up a bit and go for the beadboard look.  You can find these light covers at your local hardware store.  I picked up this one at Lowes.

 



 So much better now, right?  I love how it adds just that little extra touch.

 

 

I actually updated the photos in the frames too.  I love how the beadboard coordinates with the bookcase and wall hangings.  Just a couple other small touches and this room is done.

 



I don't think every light switch in the house needs to be updated, but they can make a subtle change  to the room.  My boys noticed I switched it out - they are pretty good about noticing those small details. 

Monogrammed Plaque

Here's a fun little project I put together over the weekend.  I started off with some scrapbook paper, 9" white wood letter from Michael's, paint and Mod Podge.

Paint the letter and attach your scrapbook paper with Mod Podge.

Make a little wooden tag, which can be found at Michaels by the unfinished wood.  Print out your name on some scrapbook paper and attach it with Mod Podge.  You could use vinyl as well.

I hot glued a piece of burlap onto a piece of 12x12 beadboard that I had painted black.  Then attached the letter, ribbon and tag as well with a little hot glue.  Now I have a personalized plaque that is ready to hang on a wall or display with an easel.

These would make great wedding, birthday or Christmas gifts as well.  Love how it turned out.  We'll be making these at my next craft night.

Shamrocks - Just a Tad Late

So what can I say, I'm running about a month behind schedule.  Life is zooming by too quickly and I'm just trying to stay afloat.  I wanted to share these cute shamrocks we made at our last craft night.  I thought they turned out pretty cute.  I also updated my frame.  Now it's packed away - waiting to be pulled out again next year.

Don't worry - I'll be back again shortly.  I've been working on loads of stuff, just need a second to blog about it.

Valentine's Mantel

Well I decided to use a lot of the same decorations that I used last year to decorate my mantel.  Here is my LOVE mantel.  On one side I used some red candles and a little greenery in a dollar spot bucket (Target).

On the other side I used my spray painted candlesticks and felt balls. I also used a couple heart platters that I picked up from Walmart last year that are really plastic serving trays on both sides of my mantel. 

I made my Be Mine pennant banner last year as well.  Here it is all together.

Perfect for Valentine's Day.

After almost a year, I finally added my youngest son's photo to this wall.  I love the black and red together.

We will enjoy our LOVE mantel another week or so before we switch it up for St. Patrick's Day.  Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's!
